Itinerary

Welcome to Ireland! On arrival into Dublin Airport, you will be met by your transfer driver in the Arrivals Terminal and transferred to your Dublin City Hotel. 

 

Dublin Hop on Hop off Sightseeing Bus 

Today you will explore Ireland’s capital city, Dublin. Originally founded by Vikings over 1,000 years ago, you will discover the city’s charms, see the elegant Georgian townhouses with brightly-painted doors, the River Liffey, O’Connell Street, St Patrick’s Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse and much more. Explore the sights of Dublin City and enjoy commentary using the Dublin City Hop on Hop off Bus service to transfer between attractions.  

 

Guinness Storehouse 

Today you will visit the Guinness Storehouse and learn how the famous ‘blackstuff’ is made. Afterwards enjoy a complimentary pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar which enjoys panoramic views of the City.

After a good nights’ rest continue touring the rest of Dublin City on board the Hop on Hop off Bus. The bus will be your mode of transport around the city and will transfer you between attractions.  

 

Book of Kells 

You will visit Trinity College, a distinguished college attended by legendary writers such as Jonathan Swift, William Congreve and Oscar Wilde to name but a few. Here you will see the famous ‘Book of Kells.’ It is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book in Latin, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament together. It was completed in 800 AD and is said to be the oldest (and most beautiful) book in the world!  

 

Dublin Castle  

Next visit Dublin Castle. Originally built in the 13th century on a site previously settled on by the Vikings, it functioned as a military fortress, a prison, treasury, courts of law and the seat of English Administration in Ireland for 700 years. Rebuilt in the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, Dublin Castle is now used for important State receptions and Presidential Inaugurations.

This evening, participate in Dublin’s Traditional Musical Pub Crawl. The tour begins at 7.30pm and typically finishes between 9.30pm and 10.00pm. Experience the vibrancy of Dublin’s traditional drink and Irish music scene on this evening pub crawl through Temple Bar – the city’s cultural quarter! Accompany two friendly musicians on a fun and educational tour through the hip yet historic district, where you will visit classic pubs and bars, witness local drinking culture and encounter Irish storytelling and music at its best. Sláinte!

This morning collect your car rental from Hertz downtown location which is located in Dublin City at 151 South Circular Road, Dublin 8 and depart Dublin for the West of Ireland. 

 

Connemara 

Travel through the Connemara region which is known for its mountains, the Twelve Bens and the beauty of the landscape with its changing colours. You will see the Connemara Marble Factory just outside Moycullen and then “The Quiet Man” bridge outside Oughterard. Enjoy the breath-taking views as you travel through the Maam Valley in the shadow of the Maamturk Mountains. 

 

Continue to Ashford Castle where you will stay overnight. Alternatively if you wish to soak up all that Ashford Castle has to offer, travel directly there from Dublin and let us organize activities such as hawk walking, afternoon tea or lake cruises for you. 

 

Ashford Castle 

Your royal adventure begins when you enter through the grand stone gates of the remarkable 800-year-old castle. Guests sleep like royalty in rooms adorned with silks and antiques and wake for a morning walk with Garvan and Cronan, the resident Irish wolfhounds. Ashford Castle is a joyous fairy-tale castle—and a majestic gateway to the delights of the Ireland’s fabled west. A stay here is a truly unique and magical experience.

Depart Connemara and travel to County Clare to see the Cliffs of Moher. 

 

Cliffs of Moher 

The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions and are a designated UNESCO Geo Park. The Cliffs are 702 ft high at the highest point and range for 5 miles over the Atlantic Ocean on the western seaboard of County Clare.  

 

The Burren 

Travel on through the Burren – an area of limestone hills which supports a wide range of flora. There are information points along the way, explaining the formation of the distinctive “Karst Landscape” which you are free to stop at. 

 

After a day of sightseeing, make your way to Dromoland Castle for the night.

Dromoland Castle has been welcoming guests since the 16th century. From the imposing baronial façade to the startling interiors, you will find a world of historic grandeur underpinned by the finest modern comforts. With lavish decor, indulgent dining, fabulous views and magnificent bedrooms, this is a place to feel like royalty.

Today you will depart Dromoland Castle and carry on travelling south to County Kerry.  

 

Adare Village 

On the way why not stop off at Adare Village, known as The Prettiest Village in Ireland. Where antiques shops, galleries, restaurants and cafés sit side by side, make sure to take time for a wander around this magical village, pause in a cosy pub for a well-earned pint, taste the food and see why ‘a hundred-thousand welcomes’ is actually an understatement. 

 

Tralee 

Next stop in Tralee town in County Kerry. It’s known for the Rose of Tralee International Festival. A glass wall in Tralee Town Park bears the names of all the contestants in that festival’s beauty pageant. The Kerry County Museum has galleries on local history and a re-creation of medieval Tralee. Nearby, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, Siamsa Tíre, puts on Irish music and dance performances. 

 

Make your way to the beautiful Ballyseede Castle Hotel where you will stay for the next two night.

Ballyseede Castle, one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s. Set in thirty acres of native woodland in the heart of Kerry, the castle has been wonderfully transformed into a luxurious hotel. Mr Higgins, the Irish Wolfhound, is always playful while his sidekick, Einstein, is usually up for some fun and loves catching stones!

Ring of Kerry 

Today you will take on the stunning Ring of Kerry drive. It is the most renowned Day Tour in Ireland. Throughout its 110 miles, you will travel around the MacGillicuddy Reeks and the Iveragh Peninsula, along the breath-taking Atlantic Coast, with views of Dingle Bay and Kenmare Bay, returning to Killarney through the famed Molls Gap, Ladies View and Killarney National Park. En route are the lovely coastal villages of Glenbeigh, Waterville and Sneem and the thriving market towns of Killorglin and Caherciveen. The Ring embraces many points of historic and archaeological interest.

This morning you will depart Ballyseede Castle and travel towards Tipperary. 

 

Rock of Cashel 

Visit the town of Cashel. You will visit the impressive Rock of Cashel which looms up in front of you as you approach the town. This cathedral-fortress dates to the time of St. Patrick when he used the shamrock as the symbol of the Holy Trinity as he converted the King of Munster to Christianity. 

 

Continue to Clontarf Castle where you will spend your last night in Ireland
