Day 1:  Arrive in Dublin

Céad míle fáilte – a hundred thousand welcomes to Ireland. Take delivery of your Hertz car rental at the Arrivals Hall in Dublin Airport and begin your “Journey Through Ireland”.

Your journey will begin with a visit to Bru Na Boinne Visitor Center at Newgrange. It presents one of Europe’s great archaeological mysteries, along the Boyne Valley and Newgrange or Knowth Neolithic burial tomb, which predates the pyramids. Afterwards you may like to visit the medieval town of Drogheda with its wealth of historical interests. The ruins of many monasteries still stand in various parts of the town along with the barbican tower of the ancient walls. Nearby are some fine town towns which were built in the 18th century and the former St. Marys Church has been eloquently restored to recreate the fascinating world of ancient Drogheda.

Continue to Kingscourt in County Cavan to enjoy your first overnight castle stay. Perhaps you could uncover some of the past secrets of gracious living and a bygone age this evening as there is much to explore within the 100 acres of parkland and garden. Alternatively, wander through the magnificent reception rooms or retire to your hotel room to rest.
